The Toronto International Film Festival ® is coming into the town.
The 30th, the 3rd in the World, and the third for us.
Ten days that could shake your imagination from Thursday, September 8 to Saturday, September 17, 2005.

Looking forward to meet interesting people like an internationally acclaimed sculptor Uga Drava (the gargoyles on the Mississauga One Park Tower are his) or an internationally acclaimed moviefreak Girish (his blog will show you the best moments of the TIFF).
Thank you Mbabazi, Chris, Lucy, Dan, Steven, Anja for having us as volunteers for the fest.
TIFF is the best place to volunteer and meet old and new friends like Zjenia and Margarita, Ludmila and Volodia, Lili and Volodia, Patricia, Peggy, Yuryi, Marina.

Some media stats:

The 30th Toronto International Film Festival showcases 335 films from 52 countries, including 256 features, of which 84 per cent or 109 are world, international, or North American premieres, and 67 features are directorial debuts.
Visit the Festival's Official website at www.bell.ca/filmfest or call the Bell Infoline at 416-968-FILM.

But beyond the stately mountain ranges, saffron robes and timeless traditions lies a struggle unfolding very much in the here and now. Dreaming Lhasa is the first film to capture both the majesty of Tibetan Buddhist culture and the complexity of its ties to the outside world. Dub reggae, family honour and the CIA all have their place here.)

В блеске летнего дня;

Он не долее дня;

Butterfly-1

L. Modzalevsky

Tell me, Butterfly,
How is the life treating you, my Buddy?
Haven'’t you tired yet?
To flit around for the whole day?

- I live among meadows
Under the shining sun;
Fragrances of flowers,–
Here is all my food!

But my era is short
- It is not longer than a day;
Be kind, Good Fellow,
And don'’t touch me.

Butterfly-2

L. Modzalevsky

Tell me, my Butterfly
How are getting you by?
Haven'’t you tired now,
To flit all day around?

"“I dwell amongst the meadows
In the dazzling sun fire;
And flavors of the flowers–
Is the only my diet.

But my life is like a dream
It is less than a day;
So, be kind Pilgrim
And let me fly away"”

Live and Learn

Among of zillions of blogs on the Blogger you can comb clicking on the Next Blog button, I came across one refreshingly sane and colorful Rurality blog.
So, I realized, that even we live maybe not inexact lush settings such as Alabama but for a big Urban sprawl as Toronto, we are not doing so bad with our organic vegetable garden, sauna, and evening tea party with a samovar and slow- cooking food made out of our own produce.
So there are a Black Russian reddish ("red'ka" good for your spleen), cherry tomatoes (native American), and yellow beans, just few of vegetables available right now.

Credit Card Fraud Prevention

I got a voice mail yesterday from the Royal Bank Visa Security , when I was told that somebody in Manitoba used my Visa paying $$XXX.XX for housing.
OK, I called from my work and talked to a guy and he advised to destroy the card and assured me that they will deal with the situation.

Only after I hanged up, I realized that it could be a VOIP phone fraud as well.
So, I went to their Web site and, alright!

I couldn't find that 1-800 phone number I just had called.
Then I called a Consumer Contact number and they told me that number I have called is a valid one and they don't want to have it listed on the Web site.

So, now for all of you out there, please use as a precaution measure whenever you get a call, verify, whenever it's possible, its authenticity.
My 2 cents (Canadian).

Prophet Elias in Chariot created a huge scare in Toronto today, August the 2nd.
Today, according to Russian Orthodox tradition he runs up in the sky in his Chariot and throws down lightning. At the Pearson International airport an Air France airbus overshot the runway and crashed into the gully off 401 highway.
I was at the York Cemetery at this time discussing a purchase of a plot for us.
To get home it took almost an hour for me, cars from 401 overflowed into the city streets.
But I was so relieved to know that everybody is alive and well. This is a miracle!
