Volunteer Opportunities This Week

What to do if you want to volunteer: Below are this week's volunteer opportunities. If you are interested in any of them, please follow the directions and e-mail me or the staff person (Mbabazi, Anja, Steven, Dan, Lucy, Elvie or I) in charge of the position with the appropriate subject line.

You will receive a confirmation e-mail only if you are selected for any of the shifts below. Regretfully, due to the volume of e-mails our staff receive, we will not be able to let you know if a particular shift has already been filled. Let us know if you are interested in volunteering for more than one shift, that way if your first choice has been filled, you may still get your second choice. We welcome responses from first-time volunteers, so please don't be shy!

THEATRES OFFICE
Labeling Walkie-Talkies
Date : Tuesday, September 6
Time : 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Duties : Printing labels, affixing said labels to the walkie-talkies, and then sorting everything.
Skills: Must be efficient, organized, and have attention to detail.
Need : 5 volunteers
Reward: You will earn 2 pinks for TIFF!

FILM CIRCUIT
Runner
Date : Tuesday, September 6
Time : 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Duties : Delivering letters within the city. TTC Day-Pass will be provided.
Skills: Sense of direction, map reading ability, and knowing your way around Toronto would be very helpful.
Need : 1 volunteer
Rewards: You will earn 1 pink for TIFF!

OPERATIONS
Table Disassembly
Date : Tuesday, September 6
Time : 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Duties : Taking apart a large table and stowing it away, rearranging furniture.
Skills: Lifting expertise and familiarity with a screwdriver are imperative.
Need : 1 volunteer
Rewards: You will earn 1 pink for TIFF!

PROGRAMME ADMINISTRATION
Stuffing Envelopes and Delivering Letters
Date : Wednesday, September 7
Time : 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Duties : Labelling and stuffing envelopes. Delivering letters to hotels.
Skills : A flair for detail. Someone with a bike or a car is preferred.
Need : 1 volunteer
Rewards : You will receive 1 pink for TIFF!

TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT
Moving The Projector
Date : Wednesday, September 7
Time : 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Duties : Assisting the Tech staff to carry a heavy projector up to the projection booth and assisting with installation. HEAVY LIFTING!
Skills: Must be able to lift 50lbs. You must wear shoes or boots.
Need : 1 volunteer
Rewards: You receive 2 pinks because this is HEAVY LIFTING.

Moving Platter Racks
Date : Wednesday, September 7
Time : 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Duties : Lifting heavy platter racks up to projection room. HEAVY LIFTING!
Skills: Must be able to lift 50lbs. You must wear shoes or boots.
Need : 2 volunteers
Rewards: You receive 2 pinks because this is HEAVY LIFTING.

Brochure Distribution
Date : Wednesday, September 7; Thursday, September 8; or Friday, September 9
Time : 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
Duties : Visiting Toronto nighbourhood retailers, restaurants, and cafes and asking them to display TIFF brochures.
Skills : Should be outgoing and prepared for a full day of walking!
Need : 6 volunteers (per day)
Rewards : You will receive 2 pinks for this shift, because it is 7 hours long.

Cumberland Theatre Entry Point
Date : September 8 through 17
Time : 8:00 am to 1:00 pm
Duties : Sign in volunteers, press and media. Answering questions. General customer service.
Skills : Ability to stand for long periods of time. Preference will be given to volunteers with prior experience at the Festival. Must be available all 10 days of the Festival.
Rewards : You will receive 2 pinks for each shift.

Volunteer Captains
Date : September 8 to September 17
Time : Morning and afternoon
Duties : Assisting Theatres staff with logistics of supervising volunteers, problem-solving, and offering support to Theatres volunteers.
Skills: At least 2 Festivals of experience as a volunteer in our Theatres.

10-Day Volunteers

Details for the 30th Toronto International Film Festival®
LAST RECRUITMENT SESSION. EVER.

FOR MORNING VOLUNTEERS!
These final recruitment sessions are open to NEW or RETURNING volunteers who are able to sign up for at least 4 morning shifts during the Festival.

WHAT:
A recruitment session is where you sign up for all volunteer shifts for September 8th -17th and for pre-Festival shifts. We are adding 4 more dates to give you a final opportunity to sign up for MORNING SHIFTS.

WHO:
Anyone who is available for at least 4 mornings between September 8 and September 17 is invited to attend a session. Please feel free to invite any trusted friends or acquaintances to a session, where they will receive additional information and have all of their questions answered. All new volunteers must bring a résumé with contact information for two references (either work, volunteer or character) with them to the session in order to sign up.
